Plate and rim mortice lock with riveted forend, with automatically engaging clutch bolt, and a fixed steady stump. Upright construction with follower for handle vertically above key-hole.
Lock bolt operable by key or handle from either side although handle may be fitted on one side only. Bolt will latch under light door closing force. In "latched only" state, bolt can be lifted by means of the handle, or by a half-turn of the key in the unlocking direction. A full turn of the key in the locking direction effectively deadlocks bolt and handle(s). Release of deadlocking can only be achieved by means of a full turn of the key in the unlocking direction, which restores the lock to its "latched only" state.
Features
Note: Features based on CEN/TC33/WG4/TG3 marked*
After undergoing wear test, lock will not (unless deliberately suited to do so) pass a key differing by one step up or down in any lever position.
Hardened steel roller in clutch bolt head to resist hacksaw attack.
Mounted in a suitable holding fixture, clutch bolt and detaining mechanism will resist an upward load of 3,000N applied to the underside of the bolt, 3mm away from the forend*.
Correctly mounted in a hardwood block (using a transverse bolt through the lockcase, if required) clutch bolt and pivot etc. will resist a direct pull, perpendicular to the forend of 5,000N*.
Mounted in a suitable holding fixture, steady stump will resist a downward load (away from the clutch bolt) of 4,000N applied 4mm away from the forend*.
Locking plate will similarly resist:-
- A pull load of 5,000N
- An upward load on steady hole (in direction of bolt aperture) of 4,000N
Clutch bolt will deadlock against an end load of 15N applied to the end of the bolt in the direction of bolt movement.
5-lever (all differing) locking mechanism with 9 lifts/lever affording at least 25,000 usable differs (before suiting) without using weak upstanding steps or resorting to warding.
False notching and common belly form on all levers to deter reading and manipulation attacks.
Key thrower with curtain, and special shield, to greatly restrict access to any part of the locking mechanism and further frustrate attempts to read or manipulate the lock.
Internal components designed to distort or collapse under strong key attack, but in such a way as to leave the lock secure.
Holes in lockcase for transverse fixing screw.
Lock capable of performing the following operations without loss of function and without incurring undue wear in any part:-
60,000 full turns of key to deadlock and release
60,000 bolt lifts/drops using the key
240,000 bolt lifts/drops via the follower
300,000 slams
Additional Features
Integral brass keys with no weak upstands
